Jheronimus Bosch ('s-Hertogenbosch, circa 1450 – augustus 1516), also called Hiėronymus or Jeroen, was a Dutch painter of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. His real name was Jeroen Anthoniszoon van Aken. The artist's work is well-known for the use of fantastic imagery to illustrate moral and religious concepts and narratives. The name derives from his birthplace, 's-Hertogenbosch, which is commonly called "Den Bosch".

In 1930 at the Bossche Market Square a statue of Jheronimus Bosch was placed. The statue is made in 1929 by the artist August Falise.

The year 2016 it will be the year of Jheronimus Bosch. For the official signing and presentation of the plans for 2016 at 17 april 2009 Jheronimus was there as a living statue. A real copy of the statue that is still overlooking the market.
